Philosophy

The faculty, Govt. College of Nursing believe that nursing is a profession based on the holistic concept of health care, directed towards identifying the health needs of the people, planning and providing quality care in collaboration with other health professionals and community groups. We believe that nursing is based on values of caring and necessitates development of compassion and understanding of human behaviour among its practitioners to provide care with respect and dignity and to protect the rights of individuals and families.
Nursing practice encompasses provision of promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative aspects of care to people across their life span in a variety of health care settings. Practice of nursing is based upon application of basic concepts and principles derived from the physical, biological and behavioural sciences, medicine and nursing.
We believe that nursing education contribute to the overall development of the student as an individual, a citizen, a professional nurse with requisite knowledge, skills, competencies and right attitude and as a prospective member of the profession who will uphold the dignity of the profession.
We believe that the faculty have the responsibility to be role models, preceptors and mentors to facilitate the development of clinical skills in the students and to be accountable for providing quality care in the respective clinical areas.
